Our Story

The Kitty Corner began with one very special Himalayan rescue cat, Yaya.

Her coat was constantly greasy, her skin produced excessive oil, and wherever she sat, she would leave stains behind. Wanting to make her more comfortable, we began our own journey to better understand feline skin and coat care and to find a grooming routine that truly worked for her.

That journey became the beginning of Hanis The Groomer.

Hanis had grown up surrounded by cats, so caring for them had always come naturally to her. What started with bathing the family cats and helping friends care for their own soon grew into something much more meaningful. We realised that other cats — and the families who love them — could benefit from the same patience, understanding and specialised care we had discovered along the way.

In 2016, husband-and-wife team Hanis and Saffri opened the doors to our very first little grooming shop at East Village Mall in Simpang Bedok.

We started small, but with a clear purpose: to create a grooming experience centred entirely around cats.

Over the years, we continued building our professional grooming competency through training and certification, while learning something equally important from every cat entrusted to us — that no two cats are the same.

We believe good feline grooming is not simply about achieving a beautiful coat. It is about understanding the cat in front of us, respecting their boundaries and making decisions with their comfort and wellbeing in mind.

This is why we have always advocated for a feline-only grooming environment — an intimate, specialised space designed around the different temperaments, personalities and needs of cats.

We take that responsibility seriously. When a cat is in our care, they cannot tell us when they are frightened, uncomfortable or overwhelmed.

So we have to be their voice.

From caring for one Himalayan rescue cat to caring for countless cats and families today, our purpose has remained the same:

To help every cat feel cleaner, healthier, safer and more comfortable — through grooming that puts the cat first.

Today, that purpose continues at The Kitty Corner, the home of Hanis The Groomer and everything we have learned, loved and believed in since the very beginning.
